Where is Alpha School? - Alpha School is located in South East London in the centre of Greenwich only 15 minutes by train from central London. Greenwich is a very popular and suitable location for students and tourists. All the attractive tourist sites are within walking distance from the school including the world-famous Cutty Sark, Queen’s House, Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory where the worlds prime meridian (longitude zero) divides the eastern and western hemispheres. How can I join your school? - You can apply online or complete our application form (which we can send to you by post, fax or e-mail) and return it by post to: (Alpha International School of English, Meridian House, Greenwich High Road, Greenwich, London SE10 8TL, England), by fax (+44 (0)20 8858-5553), by e-mail: english@alpha-int.co.uk or in person. Upon receipt of your application for enrolment we will send you an invoice for payment by return. A payment of a course deposit £300 (+£95 deposit if you require accommodation) should be made. If your course is less than 12 weeks (short course) or you need to apply for a student visa in your country from the British Embassy, we normally ask that full payment of fees be made by bank transfer to the school account as stated below. (Please include any charges for accommodation, transfers, insurance, etc.) If you cannot make a full payment we may still accept our standard £300 course deposit. [top]

When should I apply? - We would recommend that students should apply at least a week in advance. If you need a student entry visa, then you should consider applying so that there is enough time to get your student visa from the relevant British Embassy before your course starts. If you are coming for one our summer courses please try to apply several weeks in advance as this is a very busy time for us. [top]
When can I start the course? - You can start your course any Monday. This is because we operate a continuous enrolment policy (except for bank holidays). [top]
Where are students from? - We have students from many different countries around the world including, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czech Rep, France, Italy, Japan, Libya, Poland, Turkey, etc. [top]
How many students in the class? - We have an average class size of 15 students. [top]
How many levels do you teach? - We teach from Zero Beginner to Proficiency level. [top]
Do you have social programmes? - Yes. Our Social Organiser provides students with details of activities, sightseeing and excursions, local and further afield. This mainly takes place in the summer. We also have an Activity Programme specifically tied into our summer study English language courses. [top]
Can the school provide Accommodation? - Yes. Our Accommodation Officer takes a great deal of care in the selection of homestay families, all of which are local to the school within walking or short commuting distance. We also offer off-campus residential self-catering accommodation during the summer period (June to early September) with individual study/bedrooms. [top]
Do you offer Summer Study English courses? - Alpha School is open throughout the year. Our Summer School operates between June and early September. We cater for individuals and groups, Juniors and Adults. This is a very busy time for the school and we would strongly recommend that you book well in advance of your programme start date. [top]
What are the Teachers like? - Our teachers are trained qualified and professional English teachers. They are dedicated to ensuring that each student derives maximum benefit from their time with us. [top]
What time are the lessons? - Our Standard English classes are 15 hours per week Monday to Friday at the following times: 9am-12pm, 1.30pm-4.30pm. Our Intensive English classes are from Monday to Friday 9am-12pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm (30 hours per week). [top]
How do I know my class level? - We administer a formal written placement test when you enrol. We then place you in the most appropriate class for your level. [top]
Do I get a certificate at the end of the course? - Yes, on successful completion of your course you will be awarded an Alpha School Certificate of Course Completion showing the level you have achieved while studying here. [top]
Can I work in the UK while I am studying? - You are normally permitted to work 20 hours per week in term time and full time in holidays. [top]
Can I take exams? - At Alpha School we offer courses and programmes in preparation for Cambridge University Examinations and classes for IELTS. Cambridge exams can not be taken as part of our summer programme. [top]
